A recent New York Times story has revealed another dimension to the still unfolding story of Mark Kennedy the London Police Officer turned super spy who spent more than seven years infiltrating environmental activist groups. According to sources who spoke with the Times Kennedy, who operated under the alias “Mark Stone” or sometimes “Flash,”  spent “about a week” in New York City in January 2008.

During his time he attended meetings with anarchists and followed around not only local anarchists but visiting French nationals Julien Coupat and Yildune Levy who are the purported authors of the insurrectionist text The Coming Insurrection and accused of sabotaging rail lines in France as an act of protest. It has now been confirmed that Kennedy traveled to more than 20 countries, including Iceland, Spain, Germany, Poland, France, Belgium, as well as the U.S. to monitor, spy on, and possibly disrupt or influence dissidents. Kennedy is also known to have acted not just politically engaged, but emotionally and sexually so too. In a bizarre twist he is now suing his former employers at Scotland Yard for doing “did nothing to prevent me falling in love” from those he spied on!
